I am a Marine Corps Veteran and a Certified Mental Health Specialist. I have degrees
in Emergency Management and Social Psychology.
In addition to providing Counseling and Crisis Services, I serve as a part-time
Firefighter , and a part-time Emergency Services Dispatcher, in Towns County
Georgia. I am also active with the Department of Homeland Security, Federal
Emergency Management Agency, ESF2. Additionally, I serve as the Disaster Action
Team Leader and Point of Contact for the Towns County Unit of the American Red
Cross. Further, I serve with the Board of Directors of the Towns County Anti-Drug
Coalition and teach an Anti-Drug curriculum part time in the Towns County Jail. I am
also a Freemason and a member of Stephens Lodge #414.
I have advanced training from The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) (click on the 'Training'tab above) This
includes NIMS, ICS, & the FEMA 'Professional Development Series'. I also have
training from The Department of Energy (DOE) and the The Defense Security Service
Academy (DSSA). I have held US Government Security Clearances of various levels
and have worked with the Department of Energy (DOE) on several projects at the
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the National Defense Security Complex.
Moreover, I have experience in the Construction Industry, working in and
supervising many trades. These include Design, Carpentry-framing, forming and
finish, Electrical, Mechanical(Plumbing), Masonry and Cast-in-place Concrete. I have
worked on and supervised many different types of construction projects. These vary
from basic room additions on residences to Hospital renovations, Industrial facilities,
US Government facilities and Multi-Story Office buildings. I have supervised projects
with values ranging from a few thousand, to over Nine Million Dollars. I have a
working knowledge of SBCC and BOCA Building Codes, as well as, the ADA codes
and the NFPA. I hold certificates from the Associated General Contractor’s
Supervisory Training Program in Construction Documents and Basic Contract Law,
The American Concrete Institute in Mix Design and Flatwork, The Construction
Specifications Institute in Specifications and Construction Documents, and The OSHA
Supervisor’s and Safety Officer’s Compliance Course. I have worked with the
American Red Cross on several disasters as part of their Disaster Assessment Team
(DAT) surveying and assessing structural damage to buildings.
I am proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Applications (Excel,
FrontPage, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word) and Computer Security. I am
proficient with AutoCAD LT & AutoCAD. I familar with the "InterAct" Emergency
Services Dispatching System. In addition, I have experience in Computer
Hardware repair and LAN and WLAN Networking. I have worked with the American
Red Cross on several disasters as part of the Response Technology Team (RTT) to
maintain forward deployed computer systems and communications.
I hold a Class 'A' Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a "Hazardous Materials"
(HAZMAT) endorsement. I have accrued over 300,000 Accident Free miles in 31
states. I also hold an OSHA Operator's Certificate required under OSHA 1926.602 to
operate ALL Rough Terrain construction equipment.
